Professional Culture at Disrupted Academy

Professional culture at Disrupted Academy is not just about teaching. It is about maintaining a culture of professionalism and shared practice that makes being a part of the DA faculty and staff an experience of continuous professional and personal growth and satisfaction. Disrupted Academy aspires to be a professional learning community whose members are dedicated to the art, science, and improvement of teaching and learning.

Professional development at DA takes three forms:
  1. school-wide workshops, seminars, and collaborative work designed to hone professional skills and to enhance the DA learning experience for all students
  2. individual learning experiences based on identified personal and professional needs and goals
  3. an "open-door" teaching community in which teachers invite and expect informal observation and feedback from peers--physical and virtual--on an almost daily basis and formal observation and feedback on a regular basis as part of an improvement-focused system of professional evaluation
