Welcome to the Disrupted Academy wiki!
The purpose of the wiki is to imagine the school website of an independent school, circa 2018, that has fully embraced the ideas set forth in the book
Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns
by Clayton Christensen, Michael Horn, and Curtis Johnson.
I have seeded the wiki with a few starting elements: a welcome page with a basic mission statement and pages for admissions, "teaching at Disrupted Academy," curriculum overview, "our commitment to community," extracurricular activities, "DA and the World," and professional culture.
There are some very exciting discussions about this book that have been taking place elsewhere on the Net, but the hope here is to to inspire educators to take a piece of the challenge inherent in
and play it out a bit in the context of an actual--okay, virtual and in fact highly speculative--school.
So please, take a shot at a piece of this. Nothing is sacred, not even the generic mission statement, but the goal should be to probe and explore Christensen et al.'s ideas in the context of the work we do and the ideals we espouse.
Also, please feel free to mess with the design. I have arbitrarily selected blue and white as school colors, but I have deliberately left fonts and page design pretty generic.
Have fun. Start where you want, but click
to go to the Mission and Welcome page.
